2018 Supervisor Training and Employee Educational Program Schedule

Welcome to Help People’s 2018 training season! HelpPeople training’s will be offered quarterly on Thursday mornings from 10 am – 12 noon. . Trainings will be held at HelpPeople’s central office at  890 Seventh North Street, suite 203, Liverpool, 13088. Parking is free.

Registration is required and is open after January 4, 2018. To register email stevenjobson@crouse.org.  Attendance is limited to a maximum of three participants per company to ensure accessibility.

On-site training for any of Help People’s supervisor or employee programs is available with a minimum of 8 registrants. A list of supervisor and employee programs is available on HelpPeople’s website, www.helppeople-eap.org

A minimum of one months advance notice is required when scheduling trainings.

Thursday, March 22, 2018,  10 am – 12 noon

 Principles and Strategies for Successful Supervising

This training identifies common challenges with supervising as well as explores strategies to assist with establishing clear boundaries, developing others, and performance management.  This training explores the concept of “leading” vs. managing and can be beneficial to new supervisors as well as those who are experienced.

Holding Employees Accountable for Performance Issues

This program provides basic skills in the areas of recognition of workplace performance issues, documentation and intervention utilizing a “positive discipline” format.  It is recommended for supervisors interested in developing skills related to addressing deteriorating job performance.  This training discusses strategies for empowering employees with taking responsibility for performance issues and for developing measures to successfully resolving these issues.

Leading with Emotional Intelligence

This training defines the concept of Emotion Intelligence (EI) and discusses the benefits of EI with workplace relationships and management practices.  This training explores key principles, competencies, and applications of managing with Emotional Intelligence in the workplace

 Transitioning from Peer to Supervisor

This training explores and addresses issues inherent in transitioning from peer to supervisor.  The training discusses strategies for successfully recognizing and managing the changes and responsibilities that accompany the role of being a supervisor.

Managing Challenging Behaviors

This training explores identifying and addressing common types of challenging behaviors and personalities.  Characteristics of challenging personality types including the “Tank”, the “Know it All”, the “Sniper”, the “Grenade” and “Silent” will be explored.  Participants will learn strategies for successfully managing behaviors often associated with these personality types.  Participants will learn how to develop an action plan that can diffuse conflict and enhance effective communication with these behavior styles.
