2019 Supervisor Training and Employee Educational Program Schedule

Welcome to HelpPeople’s 2019 training season! HelpPeople training’s will be offered quarterly on Thursday mornings from 10 am – 12 noon.  Trainings will be held at HelpPeople’s central office at 890 7th North Street, Suite 203, Liverpool, NY 13088. 

To register, e-mail Steve Jobson at stevejobson@crouse.org.   Attendance is limited to a maximum of three participants per company to ensure accessibility.  On-site training for any of HelpPeople’s supervisor and employee programs is available with a minimum of 8 registrants.  A list of supervisor and employee programs is available on HelpPeople’s website, www.helppeople-eap.org. A minimum of one month’s advance notice is required when scheduling trainings.

Thursday February 28, 2019, 10 am – 12 noon. Managing Challenging Behaviors:

This training explores identifying and addressing common types of challenging behaviors and personalities. Characteristics of challenging personality types including the “Tank”, the “Know it all”, the “Sniper”, the “Grenade”, and the “Silent” will be explored.  Participants will learn strategies for successfully managing behaviors often associated with these personality types.  Participants will learn how to develop an action plan that can diffuse conflict and enhance effective communication with these behavior types.


Thursday May 23, 2019, 10 am – 12 noon. Developing a positive work environment:                                    Improving Esprit De Corps

Often in work cultures, individuals can behave in ways that are negative and may be harmful to others and their productivity, whether these behaviors are conscious or unconscious. This training will explore tips for recognizing toxic behaviors in the workplace and ways in which others may be drawn into these behaviors.  This training will address factors influencing these behaviors and strategies for reducing and eliminating the negative impact they can have on others.


Thursday August 22, 2019, 10 am – 12 noon. The Multigenerational Workforce

This workshop will explore the dynamics of overseeing a multigenerational workforce made up of the 5 generations currently present in many work environments. It will explore the differences each generation brings to the work effort, how each was influenced by events during their upbringings, and how each can be included in contributing to the overall success of any organizations efforts to be competitive in the marketplace.


Thursday October 24, 2019, 10 am – 12 noon. Harassment in the Workplace

This workshop explores the reality of how harassment is a serious issue in the workplace and can have negative impact on employees and the overall organization itself. This seminar will address the definition of harassment, explore various forms of harassment that can exist in the workplace today as well as the impact it can have on individuals regardless of their intent.  This training explores strategies for responding to harassing situations as well as measures for preventing occurrences in the workplace.
