2017 Supervisor Training and Employee Educational Program Schedule

Welcome to Help People’s 2017 program season! HelpPeople trainings will be offered quarterly on Thursday mornings from 10 am – 12 noon. Trainings that will be offered are listed below. Trainings will be held at HelpPeople’s central office at  890 Seventh North Street, suite 203, Liverpool, 13088. Parking is free.

Registration is required and is open after January 4, 2017. To register email Kim Masterpole. In order to ensure accessibility to trainings, attendance is limited to a maximum of three participants per company.

On-site training for any of Help People’s supervisor or employee programs is available with a minimum of 8 registrants. A list of Help People’s supervisor and employee programs is available on our website, www.helppeople-eap.org

Supervisor Programs

Thursday, March 23, 2017,  10 am – 12 noon

 Holding Employees Accountable for Performance

This program provides basic skills in the areas of Observation, Documentation and appropriate intervention utilizing a “positive discipline” format. It is recommended for supervisors who need to develop skills related to helping an employee with deteriorating job performance.

Transitioning From Peer to Supervisor

This program addresses issues inherent in the role transition of peer to supervisor. Focus is on recognizing and managing the changes and responsibilities that come with a supervisory position.

Thursday, September 21, 2017,  10 am – 12 noon

Managing Challenging Behaviors

This program will demonstrate how to identify and address various types of challenging behaviors. Learn the characteristics of “The Tank”, the “Know it All,” the “Sniper,” the “Grenade” and others. You will learn how to develop an action plan that can diffuse conflict and enhance effective communication with these behavior styles.

 Principles and Strategies of Successful Supervising

This program identifies common pitfalls in supervising, and various strategies in the areas of establishing clear boundaries, developing others, and performance management.

Let’s Get a Handle on It: Managing Work Stress

This program explores the concept of managing one’s workday and establishing healthy work habits to promote productivity throughout the day. Explore a variety of stress and time management techniques, nutritional tips, and the importance of changing our internal “self talk” to elicit change.
