2020 Supervisor Training and Employee Educational Program Schedule

Welcome to HelpPeople’s 2020 training schedule season! HelpPeople‘s trainings will be offered quarterly on the following Thursday mornings from 10:00 am – 12 Noon: February 13, 2020, May 14, 2020, August 13, 2020 and November 12, 2020.  All trainings will be held at our main office at 890 Seventh North Street, Liverpool, N.Y., 13088.  To register, e-mail Steve Jobson at stevejobson@crouse.org, or call 315-470-7447.  Attendance is limited to three participants from the same company to ensure accessibility for all of our companies.  On-site training for any of the HelpPeople supervisor and employee programs is available with a minimum of 8 registrants.  A list of supervisor and employee programs is available on HelpPeople’s website, www.helppeople-eap.org.  A minimum of one month’s advanced notice is required when scheduling trainings.

Thursday February 13, 2020, 10:00 am – 12 noon. Professionalism in the Workplace

This training will inform the attendee of the importance and benefits of healthy boundaries to assure effective service delivery to clients and customers. Describing how to establish, maintain and reinforce said boundaries will be thoroughly discussed.   Addressing the challenges to and violations of set boundaries will also be reviewed.  Additional topics included will be dealing with harassment, diversity and inclusion, resiliency and development of practical guidelines for improving the professionalism in any type of workplace.

Thursday March 5, 2020, 10am – 11:15am Mindful Eating (for Nutrition Month) 

In a diet culture filled with busyness, it is easy to develop a negative relationship with food. Mindful eating is a tool to help reset both a diet mindset and distracted conscious. Learn strategies to eat mindfully with awareness and intention and without self-judgement. The more we get “in tune” with our hunger cues, the better we become at choosing foods that are nourishing, satisfying and pleasurable.

Thursday May 14, 2020, 10:00 am – 12 noon. Motivational Interviewing and Behavioral Based Hiring

This training will familiarize the attendees to concepts which will assist in looking at potential hirees for positions within any type of organization utilizing the techniques of Motivational Interviewing, and Behavioral Based Hiring. Through review of how to approach dealing with employees in general to determine their predilection towards intrinsic versus extrinsic motivation, attendees will have greater insight into how to engage with particular employees.  Married with the fundamental tenets of Behavioral Based Hiring and interviewing, attendees willbe better prepared to engage people seeking employment in their companies.

Thursday August 13, 2020, 10:00 am – 12 noon. Team Building: Strategies for Improving Relationships and Performance 

This training will provide attendees with concrete examples of objectives in forming teams and maintaining team cohesion over time. Review of seven key components of team development will be examined.  Learning to recognize signs of distress, potential benefits of team conflict, and how to harness divisiveness into malleable energy will also be addressed.  Examples of the types of team building strategies and activities are provided in order for participants to experience firsthand how to conduct such activities in their own companies.

Thursday November 12, 2020, 10:00 am – 12 noon.   Managing Workplace Stress and Vicarious Trauma

This training will assist the supervisor in understanding how people become disaffected by workplace stressors to the point of needing recognition of the impact it has on team effectiveness, efficiency and health of employees. Attendees will become aware of concrete Stress Management Techniques in order to deal with situations as they arise.  Additionally, participants will review the impact of Vicarious versus Secondary Trauma, Compassion Fatigue and Burnout, how to identify these phenomenon and healthfully support their workforce.
